Starwood Hotels & Resorts has broken ground on its latest venture, Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort in Los Cabos, which will be the brand’s seventh property in Mexico.
Set to open in 2017, the resort will be owned by Quinta del Golfo de Cortez. It will have 131 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites in five distinct six-floor buildings, spread across 33 acres.
The hotel will also feature a two-bedroom Presidential suite with a private swimming pool.
Solaz will be Starwood’s first Luxury Collection hotel in Los Cabos, offering an outdoor terrace with jacuzzi, three restaurants, an expansive pool, a beach deck that spans more than 26,000ft², a spa and fitness facility, three tennis courts, and miles of walking and running paths.
It will also allow guests to host events at its 9,900ft² event space.
Led by Mexico City-based Sordo Madaleno Architects, the hotel will be designed in collaboration with landscape architects Gabayet and artist Cesar Lopez Negrete.
The design team will use a natural colour palette incorporating wood and granite to reflect the lush landscape and breathtaking ocean views.
Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts global brand leader Hoyt H Harper II said: "This marks a milestone year for The Luxury Collection, as the brand continues to grow globally, debut marquee conversion hotels and invest in landmark renovations.
"As we break ground on Solaz, we look forward to introducing a new level of luxury to the extraordinary beaches of Los Cabos."
