American global hospitality company Hilton Worldwide has opened its new DoubleTree by Hilton Cairns in Cairns, Australia, which is also its first in Queensland.
This is also the fourth DoubleTree by Hilton in Australia and 400th worldwide.
DoubleTree by Hilton global head John Greenleaf said: "The opening of this hotel further cements our commitment to the Australian market.
"We know that the little things mean everything when it comes to a rewarding travel experience and strive to bring each guest the special comforts and acts of kindness that are unique to the brand, starting with a warm chocolate chip cookie welcome at check-in and continuing throughout every aspect of a guest’s stay."
The 237 rooms of the hotel include 161 double-doubles, 75 king rooms and one king one-bedroom suite. It also offers an open air rainforest garden with a barramundi pond.
The Atrium restaurant in the hotel offers a menu that provides dishes incorporated with local ingredients such as barramundi with a lemon myrtle and macadamia crust served on a saffron pea risotto with wild rosella chutney and leek.
Other facilities include outdoor swimming pool, 24-hour fitness and business centres, information desk, high-speed internet access in public areas and an event space that can accommodate about 160 guests.
The company also plans two new hotels in Perth and Fremantle in Western Australia.
