An affiliate of Hyatt Hotels has signed a management agreement with Fu Wah New Zealand to open first Park Hyatt-branded hotel in Auckland in 2017.

Planned to be located in a waterfront location on Auckland Harbour, Park Hyatt Auckland will feature 190 guestrooms, three restaurants and bars, event spaces, a spa, a 25m pool and fitness centre.

Auckland Harbour is expected to undergo a revitalisation to turn the area into a leisure, entertainment, culture, and dining destination.

Hyatt Hotels senior vice-president of real estate and development for Asia Pacific Ratnesh Verma said: "This has been an exciting year for the Park Hyatt brand, and we are honoured to collaborate with Fu Wah New Zealand on this landmark luxury development.

"Fu Wah New Zealand believes in the Park Hyatt brand, having recently purchased Park Hyatt Melbourne, and we are confident Park Hyatt Auckland will provide guests with the luxurious accommodations, culinary expertise and high-quality service for which the Park Hyatt brand is known."

Earlier this year, Hyatt opened two new hotels, dubbed Park Hyatt Vienna Park Hyatt New York. The company is currently developing 16 new properties globally.
