Hyatt Herald Square New York

Hospitality group Hyatt Hotels and Chesapeake Lodging Trust have announced the opening of Hyatt Herald Square New York.

Located on West 31st Street between 5th Avenue and Broadway in Midtown Manhattan, the hotel draws inspiration from the area’s rich publishing history and neighbouring fashion street.

Hyatt Herald Square general manager Candice Cancino said: "Hyatt Herald Square is ideally located in the centre of the lively Hyatt Herald Square neighbourhood.

"The hotel captures the spirit of this district and inspires guests to explore the best that the area has to offer. We are excited to welcome our first and future guests."

Hyatt Herald Square offers 122 rooms and one grand suite, as well as a free-flowing lobby lounge with a living-room type feel, a restaurant and bar, an espresso bar and a rooftop bar on the 20th floor.

"This fashion-forward, historical-minded hotel is sure to be a great go-to-destination for business and leisure travellers, as well as local New York residents."

The lobby, adorned with the artwork of nine local artists, features several themed communal areas including an espresso bar with cafe counter, an on-site market for on-the-go snacks and a library-themed lounge, bar and private dining space with comfortable seating and a bookshelf.

A smooth, bowl-shaped desk at the back of the lobby in front of a curved metal door with embossed lettering replaces the traditional check-in desk, creating a seamless experience between check-in and settling in.

The hotel’s rooftop lounge is also available for small meetings and events for up to 100 people. The library-themed lobby bar and restaurant, named The Den, features a casual bistro menu.

Real Hospitality, the hotel’s management company, president and CEO said Ben Seidel said: "This fashion-forward, historical-minded hotel is sure to be a great go-to-destination for business and leisure travellers, as well as local New York residents, offering a true taste of the neighbourhood in a contemporary and social setting."
