InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has launched its Hotel Indigo brand in Russia with the opening of a new hotel in St. Petersburg.
The new Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg – Tchaikovskogo, which is operated under a franchise agreement with Vega, has 119 bedrooms featuring floor-to-ceiling murals based on the neighbouring Summer Garden, the Foundry metal works and river embankments.
Hotel Indig? St.Petersburg – Tchaikovskogo owner Viktoria Shamlikashvili said the hotel is located in the heart of St. Petersburg, near the Summer Garden, the State Russian Museum, and opposite the first metal works.
"As a result, Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg – Tchaikoyskogo is a great opportunity to create a uniquely designed hotel in harmony with its local neighbourhood," Shamlikashvili added.
The new property features free Wi-Fi across the hotel and iPod docking station in the bedrooms.
IHG Europe upscale and luxury brands brand management vice president Tom Rowntree said that Hotel Indigo St. Petersburg – Tchaikovskogo will be the first Hotel Indigo to open in Russia.
"Located in the centre of Russia’s capital of culture, the property truly encapsulates the style and charm of this historical city for guests to enjoy, and we look forward to welcoming guests to this new hotel," Rowntree added.
Launched in the US in 2004, Hotel Indigo is one of IHG’s youngest brands.
Currently, IHG operates 13 Hotel Indigo properties in Europe and has further 15 properties in the pipeline.
