InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of the Crowne Plaza Suites Tequendama Bogota in Colombia.

The 30-storey, 271-room hotel is owned and managed by Sociedad Hotelera Tequendama under a licence agreement with an IHG subsidiary.

The hotel, which was a conversion from an independent property and underwent an extensive renovation, is a mixed-use building featuring meeting facilities, offices and apartments.

All suites include a living room with a sofa-bed, a dining table, a kitchenette and a work station with wireless internet access.

The hotel offers a variety of amenities, including a spa facility, health and fitness centre, business centre, four restaurants, an indoor pool and three meeting rooms on the 30th floor with a capacity to accommodate up to 700 people.

The new hotel is located next to the existing 573-room Crowne Plaza Tequendama Bogota, and is intended to complement the Crowne Plaza brand in Bogota with additional rooms and meeting spaces.

IHG’s vice president of sales and marketing, Latin America and Caribbean Ricardo Lopez said the hotels are located in an area of Bogota that is in high demand among travellers and meeting planners.

"With both properties, there are now 800 rooms, all offering an upscale experience, affording the brand a competitive advantage among meetings and business travelers who are looking for not only a comprehensive meetings program, but also generous amenities, a great location and high level of comfort," Lopez said.

IHG has eight hotels in Colombia: two InterContinental Hotels, two Crowne Plaza hotels, and two Holiday Inn and two Holiday Inn Express properties.
