InterContinental Hotels Group has opened a new 355-room Crowne Plaza Stamford property in downtown Stamford, Connecticut, US.

Previously an independent hotel, the property has opened after an $18m renovation funded by Montreal-based owner Rosdev.

IHG Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts Americas brand management vice-president Gina LaBarre said: "This newest addition to the Crowne Plaza portfolio of hotels will provide guests with the amenities and top-notch services they need to be productive when they’re on the road for work.

"Our guests are looking for a hotel that caters to their business needs so it’s important that we provide an environment that enables them to focus on getting their work done."

The hotel also includes a 24-hour business centre, featuring U-Connect that offers single Internet sign-on, free Wi-Fi, one-click secure wireless printing and easy access to power outlets and charging cords.

In addition, Crowne Plaza Stamford includes an Energy Essentials Wellness Station that offers snacks and drinks, as well as Restaurant 2701, featuring different American Fusion dishes and Japanese Sushi restaurant Soosh.

The property includes 23 junior suites and one presidential suite that offers an open floor plan with a full kitchen and in-suite dining and living rooms.

Crowne Plaza Stamford general manager Michael Moser said: "The Crowne Plaza services and amenities, as well as our close proximity to New York City, will make us a choice hotels for both business and leisure travellers in the Stamford area."
