Hobart

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has entered into a management agreement with hospitality firm The Kalis Group for a new Crowne Plaza hotel in Hobart, Australia.

Featuring 187 rooms, the Crowne Plaza Hobart will be part of the mixed-use property ICON Complex being developed by Kalis Group.

IHG Australasia, Japan, Korea and Asia, Middle East and Africa (AMEA) franchising COO Karin Sheppard said: "In expanding into new markets we always look to work with owners who understand our brands and are familiar with the city we’re entering.

"The location and facilities of the new Crowne Plaza Hobart will make it a great choice for both business and leisure guests when it opens in 2017."

Situated in central business district of the city, the new property offers easy access to major government and commercial offices, and will be near to the Salamanca Place and Constitution Dock.

The new property will include business and meetings facilities, including a ballroom, meeting rooms, boardroom and 24-hour business centre.
