InterContinental Hotels (IHG) has selected Interstar to develop ten hotels in Germany within four years.
Interstar is said to be the first time franchisee for the hotel group, and will develop hotels under Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands.
The multiple development agreement (MDA) is part of IHG’s strategy to expand presence in Germany where it currently has more than 85 hotels either open or planned under MDA agreements.
The ten new hotels will have a total of around 1,700 rooms.
Under the deal, the first property will be 288-room Holiday Inn Frankfurt – Airport, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter next year.
Located at Terminal 2 of Frankfurt International Airport, the hotel will complement Holiday Inn Frankfurt – Alte Oper, which opened earlier this week.
