
TIAA Henderson Real Estate (TH Real Estate) has selected architecture and interior design practice Jestico + Whiles to design the new hotel at the St James development in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Jestico + Whiles has been appointed as the designer of the project after winning a design competition that included four other international practices.
Part of the £850m development project which is a replacement to the St James Centre, the new hotel will include 210 rooms, featuring a top-floor bar with panoramic 360 degree views, reports BBC.
Jestico + Whiles director Heinz Richardson was quoted by BBC as saying: "We are thrilled to have been selected by TH Real Estate to be part of one of the biggest and most exciting regeneration projects currently under way in the UK.
"The contemporary design will be sympathetic to the surrounding World Heritage site and its history, providing a first-class destination for Edinburgh at the heart of the city’s new retail quarter."
Construction on the project is expected to commence by the end of this year.
