Jumeirah Group has received formal approval from the Dubai government for the fifth phase of expansion of the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which has been earmarked for completion by 2018.
The hospitality group has selected architecture practice Broadway Malyan to oversee the expansion work.
The project will involve the addition of an ultra-luxury resort to the existing Jumeirah Beach Hotel, which will comprise 350 rooms with beachfront views of Burj Al Arab and a dedicated new beach offering private beach experiences.
It will also include recreational marine facilities that will encompass spas, health clubs, elevated tennis courts, a sports complex and a range of ocean-facing retail, food and beverage outlets.
As part of the project, the existing yacht marina will be significantly expanded, doubling its current capacity. It will also offer a variety of leisure facilities, equipped with entertainment amenities.
The expansion project is in line with government plans to strengthen Dubai as a global tourism hub.
