JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts has unveiled plans to open its first Italian property in Venice in 2015.
The 266-room JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa has been created in collaboration with Italian architect firm Matteo Thun & Partners, which offers views of St Mark’s Square and La Serenissima.
JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts vice president and global brand manager Mitzi Gaskins said: "The opening of our first property in Italy marks a time of great growth and development for the JW Marriott brand.
"The new JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa exemplifies the elegance and service that our guests have come to expect, incorporating modern design elements with authentic Venetian offerings to create a truly genuine experience in a culturally rich market."
JW Marriott Venice will feature 1,750m spa operated by GOCO Hospitality, an indoor and outdoor aqua-tonic pool, a health club, eight treatment rooms, a hammam and luxury spa suite.
The new property will also feature four restaurants and five bars, as well as a cooking school and wine academy.

By GlobalDataIn addition, the property will include a kid’s club and dedicated family pool, water sports such as canoeing and sailing, and a rooftop pool offering views across to St Mark’s Square.
The group is also planning to open JW Marriott Cabo San Lucas Resort in Mexico; JW Marriott Austin in Texas, US; and JW Marriott Vancouver Place Stadium in British Columbia, Canada in 2015.
Part of Marriott International, JW Marriott operates 68 hotels in 26 countries, and is planning to increase its portfolio by more than 100 hotels in over 30 countries by 2019.
