Marriott International is to develop the Courtyard by Marriott Setif, Algeria, under a management agreement with ownership group Prom-Bati.

The 198-room hotel will be part of the Park Mall mixed-use development in Setif.

The hotel will offer a restaurant, a lobby lounge and 6,896ft2 of flexible meeting space on the third floor.

Other amenities include a prayer room, a fitness centre and pool, a business centre, room service and a gift shop.

The property offers 109 standard rooms, 37 larger rooms and 52 suites and junior suites, which will be equipped with flat-panel televisions, complimentary Wi-Fi access and a functional work area.

Marriott International president & managing director of international lodging Ed Fuller said once the hotel opens in Setif, the company’s Algerian portfolio will contain six hotels and five brands.

The Courtyard by Marriott Setif and the Courtyard by Marriott Algiers will open in 2014.

The Renaissance Tlemcen, Marriott International’s first hotel in Algeria, opened in 2011; in 2014, the company said it would open four others in one complex – Algiers Marriott, Algiers Marriott Executive Apartments, Courtyard by Marriott Algiers and Residence Inn by Marriott Algiers.

Marriott operates hotels 37 hotels in 11 countries in the Middle East and Africa, including eight operating in Algeria and Egypt; another 11 hotels are under construction in Algeria, Egypt and Morocco.
