Marriott International‘s brand Marriott Hotels has opened a new 197-room property in Georgetown, Guyana.
The new Guyana Marriott Hotel Georgetown is the group’s first property in the country.
Marriott International South America area vice-president Rahul Vir said: "This is a very exciting time for Marriott across Latin America.
"We plan to reach 150 hotels open and under development in the Caribbean and Latin America by the end of 2017 and are thrilled to now be expanding into Guyana with our new partners.
"With this project, not only are we bringing more hotel rooms to the Guyanese market, but also elevating the standards of hospitality in Georgetown which is experiencing a large growth in tourism."

By GlobalDataThe new property includes Terra Mare restaurant and an outdoor modern pool deck with a sleek bar and grill, in addition to the 8,900ft² of meeting space, including a modern grand ballroom.
It also features a modern fitness centre that is designed for athletic guests, including the latest equipment and tech for cardio, strength and core training.
The property provides wireless internet that allows travellers to stay connected with email, social media and video streaming.
