Marriott Marquis Chicago, a hotel with 1,205 guest rooms, has opened in the entertainment and convention district of McCormick Square in Chicago.
It is claimed to be the largest hotel to open this year in Chicago, and the largest Marriott to open in North America this year.
The 40-story modern glass hotel, which includes 44 suites, is directly connected to convention centre, McCormick Place, and is next to the new 10,000-seat Wintrust Arena.
Designed by Chicago-based Anderson/Miller Ltd. in collaboration with design architect Gensler, the hotel links to the American Book Company building, which was constructed in 1912.
The hotel also features Marriott's signature two-story Great Room with a Grab 'n Go market called 2121 Pantry.
The property also offers 93,000-ft2 of meeting and event space, including two 25,000-ft2 of ballrooms and 43,000-ft2 of breakout meeting rooms. A 4,000-ft2 event space on the 33rd floor is expected to open later this year.
