Renaissance Hotels has reopened its Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, following a $40m renovation.
The year long programme, which started in 2014, included the renovation of the property’s interior and amenities, as well as preserving the hotel’s historic aspects.
Renaissance Hotels Marketing vice-president Dan Vinh said: "Santo Domingo is a historic city in the Caribbean with rich tradition and a vibrant local culture.
"We are incredibly excited to unveil the renovated Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino and invite our guests to discover the local flavour of Santo Domingo."
Constructed in 1942, the Renaissance Santo Domingo, located in the New World, features 300 rooms and suites, executive lounge, an outdoor pool, casino and tennis club in addition to a fitness centre and spa.
It also includes ten meeting spaces that offers the latest technology and the La Fiesta theatre, accommodating up to 1,200 guests.
The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino is the third hotel in Marriott International’s Dominican Republic portfolio. The brand opened the JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo and the Courtyard Santo Domingo last year.
In September, Renaissance Hotels announced the opening of a new hotel in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India, marking the opening of the group’s first property in north India.
With 16 floors and 112 rooms, the hotel is claimed to be the tallest hotel to open in Lucknow, India.
