US-based private equity firm Rockbridge has bought The Cliff House Resort & Spa in Ogunquit, Maine, from its operator New Castle Hotels & Resorts.

The Cliff House Resort & Spa is built on 70 oceanfront acres on the Bald Head Cliff in Ogunquit along Maine’s rocky coast.

The 166-room hotel, which will likely complete a full renovation after the 2015 season, is due to open for the 2014 season this month.

Rockbridge has acquired the hotel under a joint venture partnership with Marc Dugas of Dugas Development and Peter Anastos.

Rockbridge CEO Jim Merkel said, "We endeavor to create great hotel experiences for our guests, and are excited to do just that with The Cliff House."

"We’re looking forward to working with Rockbridge and bringing this historic oceanfront resort to the next level."
