Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has completed the first phase of renovation at Sheraton Rio Hotel & Resort.
The hotel now features a newly designed lobby, remodelled guestrooms and suites, in addition to a new Shine Spa and a renovated Sheraton Fitness Center.
It also houses new restaurants and bars, including L’Etoile headed by French chef and restaurateur Jean Paul Bondoux.
The redesign has also added 5,400ft² of space to the meeting facilities, including 14 meeting rooms and a new business centre.
Sheraton Hotels & Resorts global brand leader Hoyt Harper said: "The comprehensive redesign of this iconic Sheraton will propel it to new heights and reinforce its status as the most sought-after hotel in Rio, Brazil’s top tourist destination."

In Latin America, Starwood currently operates more than 30 Sheraton hotels, and it is set to open three hotels by 2016, including the Sheraton Santa Cruz Hotel in Bolivia, the Sheraton Cartagena Hotel in Colombia, and Sheraton Reserva do Paiva Hotel near Recife in Brazil.
The Sheraton Reserva do Paiva Hotel will be opened by the end of this month.
