Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide has entered into an agreement with Shayher Leisure Holdings to launch its W Hotels brand in a newly-built mixed-use development in Brisbane, Australia.

Slated to open in early 2018, W Brisbane is developed by Shayher Leisure Holdings and Pau Jar Group of Taiwan.

Located on 300 George Street by the Brisbane River, the 305-room hotel will feature more than 960m² of modern meeting and event space, as well as a 24hr business centre, spa, workout facility, indoor heated swimming pool, and W Hotels The Store.

In addition, the hotel will house three restaurants and bars, including an all-day dining restaurant, Pool Bar and the W Lounge.

W Brisbane will join Starwood’s 14 properties in Australia, as part of a pipeline of 15 W Hotels set to open in the Asia Pacific region before 2019.

Starwood Pacific Hotels & Resorts regional vice president Sean Hunt said: "W Brisbane marks a significant milestone for Starwood, bringing the dynamic and innovative W brand back to the Pacific region.

"W Hotels is currently experiencing a wave of growth worldwide and having its presence here in Australia will provide a strong foundation for its continued expansion both locally and across the region."

Starwood noted that over the next four years, W Hotels will debut in Beijing, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Jakarta, among other Asian destinations.
