The property has opened after completion of an adaptive re-use project at the city’s Central Business District. It is controlled by HRI Properties affiliate 225 Baronne Complex Subtenant and managed by HRI Lodging.

Starwood Specialty Select Brands senior vice-president Brian McGuinness said: "We are thrilled to introduce the Aloft brand, with its distinct design aesthetic, buzzing social scene and innovative offerings, to the vibrant city of New Orleans.

"The property has opened after completion of an adaptive re-use project at the city’s Central Business District."

Situated at 225 Baronne Street, the property is close to New Orleans’ iconic Bourbon Street, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, multiple offices and many jazz clubs, bars and boutiques in the French Quarter.

The hotel features W XYZ bar, an outdoor splash pool, around the clock fitness centre and 2,500ft² of flexible meeting space designed for both business meetings and social gatherings.

In addition, the mixed-use building comprises residences on floors 18 through 30 with separate entrance and elevator, as well as separate amenities.

HRI Properties president and COO Tom Leonhard said: "Aloft New Orleans Downtown will not only energise the city’s lodging market, but also attract a whole new generation of travellers seeking a stylish and approachable option in a great location."

According to Starwood, the project is one of successful adaptive re-use projects for the Aloft brand in cities across North America that includes Aloft Orlando Downtown, Aloft Tulsa Downtown, Aloft Dallas Downtown, Aloft Detroit at the David Whitney, and Aloft Tampa Downtown.
