Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is planning to debut its Aloft brand in Miami Beach, Florida, in early 2015.

The new 235-room property will be constructed by Plaza Construction and involves the renovation of the mid-century Motel Ankara along with the building of a new, eight-storey tower.

It will be located in close proximity to Miami Beach and minutes from the world-renowned South Beach and the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Aloft South Beach is being developed by JMH Development and Madden Real Estate Ventures.

Guests will enjoy an outdoor pool, roof deck lounge, a 24hr fitness centre and 2,349ft² of flexible meeting space for both business meetings and social gatherings.

It will be the group’s third Aloft property in Miami.

Allison Reid, SVP of North America development at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, said the new opening is part of the brand’s aggressive expansion across the US including Florida, where the company intends to have nine Aloft hotels by 2016.

"Aloft is resonating with the next generation of travellers with its urban design flair, social atmosphere and original programming," Reid added.
