Wyndham Hotel Group has signed a franchise agreement for the first Wyndham Hotels and Resorts property in Quito, Ecuador.

It is part of an existing deal to develop and franchise eight hotels in the country under the Wyndham Hotel Group brand over the next ten years.

Projected to open in late 2015, the full-service, 146-room Wyndham Quito Airport Gran Condor is to be the only hotel on the new international airport grounds.

"We are convinced of Ecuador’s great potential in tourism."

Upon opening, the hotel will be the fifth Wyndham property developed and operated by Pronobis, joining the Wyndham Guayaquil, the first Wyndham Hotel to open in Ecuador, and three Howard Johnson hotels currently operating in Quito, Guayaquil and Loja.

Wyndham Quito Airport Gran Condor will offer an on-site restaurant, lobby bar, pool, gym and spa facilities. It will also offer four 77m² meeting rooms that can be converted into a large 300m² conference room.

Pronobis CEO Sergio Torassa said: "We are convinced of Ecuador’s great potential in tourism.

"The hotel’s spectacular design is inspired by the Condor. This bird is a symbol of our country’s heritage and plays an important role in Andean region mythology. It will be an icon and a very distinctive element when our guests arrive in Quito."
