Hotel Okura subsidiary Okura Nikko Hotel Management has appointed Hidechika Takasaka as its new president and representative director.

Takasaka’s experience in the financial services sector spans more than three decades, which is expected to be instrumental in steering the company through the evolving landscape of the hotel industry, in Japan and worldwide.

Takasaka has been part of Okura Nikko Hotel Management since 2024, serving as a director of the board and senior managing executive officer.

In his role as the chief officer of operation management, he has been influential in integrating strategic management principles into the company’s operational activities, managing both domestic and international hotel operations.

Takasaka said: “As we look ahead, our aim will be to continually deliver services that not only meet but hopefully exceed the expectations of our guests.

“Additionally, as president, I feel it is my responsibility to uphold the trust of our hotel owners and contribute to the steady growth of our chain. It will be an honour to play my part in supporting the tourism industry both in Japan and internationally.”

Hotel Okura was established in 1958, and its portfolio includes asset ownership, hotel development, and management, as well as restaurant and chain operations through its subsidiaries and affiliated companies.

The flagship Hotel Okura Tokyo opened in 1962 and was relaunched as The Okura Tokyo in September 2019 after a four-year reconstruction.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management oversees a portfolio of 79 properties, which include 53 in Japan and 26 overseas, totalling approximately 23,611 guest rooms.

These properties are categorised under three hotel groups, which are Okura Hotels & Resorts, Nikko Hotels International, and Hotel JAL City.

Takasaka added: “Okura Nikko Hotels is a collective formed by bringing together Okura Hotels & Resorts with its flagship, The Okura Tokyo, alongside Nikko Hotels International and Hotel JAL City, both of which have their origins in one of Japan’s leading airlines.

“We operate around 80 hotels, primarily in Japan and Asia. Our mission is to embrace and share on a global scale what we call omotenashi, the Japanese spirit of hospitality, uniquely blending this with the facilities and standards of an international hotel.”
