Thai hotel management firm ONYX Hospitality Group has opened a new hotel in Hong Kong to expand its business.

Situated along the tram line in Sheung Wan, the newly opened Y Hotel Hong Kong is equipped with 96 rooms.

The non-smoking rooms are divided into several categories, such as Classic and One Bedroom Harbour Suite, among others.  

The rooms feature a workspace along with a LED TV set and a capsule coffee machine.

Besides, a number of amenities, including iLink, which is an indoor space with tablets and internet connection as well as Terrace, an open-air rest area and self-check-in kiosks, are incorporated in the hotel.

The first floor of the hotel houses Source Bar, which is currently soft opened.

In a statement, ONYX Hospitality Group said: “Situated on Hong Kong’s famous Dried Seafood Street, a section of Des Voeux Road West in the Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun area, Y Hotel is just steps away from both buses and the ‘Ding Ding’ tram stops, and is a three-minute walk away from the Sai Ying Pun MTR station.

“Slightly further afield is the Central Ferry Pier with links to Kowloon and elsewhere.

“Also nearby is the Hong Kong Macau Ferry Terminal, the hop-on point for the ferry and the helicopter linking Hong Kong with Macau.”

ONYX Hospitality Group currently has more than 40 properties throughout Asia Pacific. The company also have ten new projects in the pipeline.

Earlier this month, the group added two new Shama properties in Bangkok, namely Shama Petchburi 47 Bangkok and Shama Ekamai Bangkok.

It has also opened two new Amari hotels in Malaysia.
