OYO’s parent company Oravel Stays has unveiled plans to grow its upscale SUNDAY Hotels brand by inaugurating 100 properties around the world in the fiscal year 2025-2026 (FY 2026).

This move is part of the company’s ambition to strengthen its position in the upper-tier segment of the global hospitality industry.

SUNDAY Hotels was established in May 2023 through a collaborative venture between SoftBank Group and Oravel Stays.

This brand caters to the higher-end market with a focus on accommodations rated four-star and above.

SUNDAY Hotels currently has operations across ten nations, including Bahrain, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam.

The brand’s introduction into the Indian market began with an establishment in Jaipur. Following this opening, it has extended its reach to prominent urban centres such as Chandigarh, Gurugram and Vadodara.

As it stands, Oravel Stays manages a portfolio of 13 SUNDAY Hotels within India.

The global expansion of SUNDAY Hotels started with the launch of SUNDAY Holiday International Hotel in Dubai and the SUNDAY Lansbury Heritage Hotel in the UK in August 2024.

An Oravel spokesperson told PTI: “There are 30 SUNDAY Collection hotels already open across ten countries, and the company is planning to ramp up expansion in FY 2026, targeting 100 hotels across these regions.

“The rapid expansion of SUNDAY Hotels across key markets has been driven by strong consumer demand and strategic partnerships.”

Earlier in January, reports indicated OYO’s plans to launch 400 new properties in key spiritual destinations across India by the end of the year, with locations such as Amritsar, Ayodhya, and Varanasi among others.

Following this, OYO announced a $61.73m investment last month in the UK hospitality sector over the next three years, aiming to expand its premium hotel portfolio.

OYO has already established a presence in the UK with more than 200 hotels, primarily in the budget segment, across 65 cities.
