The Ritz-Carlton has opened its doors in Suzhou in China’s Jiangsu province near Shanghai.

Designed by KPF Architects, the hotel’s facade incorporates modern techniques inspired by traditional Suzhou architecture, featuring layered roofs, folding fan screens, and negative space concepts.

Interiors by architect Peter Remedios reflect Suzhou’s silk trade and classical gardens, with neutral tones, black-and-white contrasts, lattice windows, and silk-inspired motifs.

The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou is located within a 2km radius to attractions such as Lingering Garden, Xiyuan Temple, and Shantang Street. It is also adjacent to the city’s metro line and is 3km from Suzhou Railway Station.

The hotel offers 190 guest rooms, including 57 suites designed with a minimalist Suzhou aesthetic featuring crisp black and white contrasts. The property also features three restaurants reflecting the region’s culinary traditions.

The Ritz-Carlton Suzhou general manager Nicolas Kassab said: “The Ritz-Carlton, Suzhou stands as the crown jewel of the city’s China Central Place, and sets to become a vibrant hub for commerce, culture, and social life.

“We aim to provide guests with a distinctive experience that reflects the luxury and heritage of Suzhou while also contributing to the city’s vibrant cultural and hospitality landscape.”

The hotel also features a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor swimming pool, and event spaces, including a 508m² grand ballroom, three meeting rooms, and an outdoor venue.
