Marriott International’s Tribute Portfolio has marked its debut in Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit with the inauguration of the Turaco Ngorongoro Valley hotel.
Located in Karatu, the property offers 37 suites, comprising 34 executive and three presidential suites.
Marriott International Europe, Middle East, and Africa Premium, Select & Midscale Brands vice president Sandra Schulze-Potgieter said: “Turaco Ngorongoro Valley marks an exciting milestone as the first Tribute Portfolio property in Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit.
“This opening brings to life the brand’s passion for exceptional design and heartfelt service, offering a unique stay that reflects the untamed spirit of its destination. We’re thrilled to introduce this exceptional lodge to travellers seeking connection, culture, and adventure.”
The lodge offers several dining options, guided forest walks and trails, and wellness facilities such as a pool, jacuzzi, fitness centre, spa, and a recreation area.
Turaco Collection co-founder Ali Jivraj says: “Our goal is to create a space where guests can truly unwind, reconnect with nature, and immerse themselves in the local culture. From the vibrant design inspired by Maasai traditions to the curated experiences that celebrate the beauty of Tanzania, every detail has been crafted to ensure a memorable and meaningful stay.”
In addition, guests are encouraged to participate in the “Make the Green Choice” initiative, which promotes the conservation of energy and water by forgoing daily linen changes.
Turaco Ngorongoro Valley demonstrates sustainability features, utilising solar energy and implementing waste management practices to minimise its environmental impact.
The lodge actively supports local community projects by funding infrastructure improvements and encouraging guests to contribute educational materials.
In a related development, Marriott International announced the upcoming launch of two new tented safari camps in Kenya, namely the Ritz-Carlton, Masai Mara Safari Camp and JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp.
The properties are set to open in August 2025 and early 2026, respectively, further expanding the company’s luxury portfolio in Africa.
