Belgian technology startup Wetime has formed a partnership with telecommunications provider VodafoneZiggo and software company Packet Ship.

This partnership intends to bring Wetime’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology to hotel rooms, with an initial trial run at the Teaching Hotel in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

Packet Ship representative Jan-Pieter Gerritsen said: “Wetime’s integration into Packet Ship’s Guide platform marks a significant leap in personalised travel experiences.”

Founded by Sietse Schelpe and Marloes Decraemer, Wetime leverages AI to provide personalised travel plans, considering factors such as budget, group dynamics and individual preferences.

With the incorporation of Wetime into their room services, hotels can offer guests a tailored array of 150,000 activities, 250,000 hotel options and 45,000 restaurants worldwide by integrating Wetime into their in-room services. This will in turn enhance guest experience and in-room service revenue by up to 15%, claimed Wetime.

Teaching Hotel general manager Eelco Holwerda said: “We consider it essential to be at the cutting edge of AI technology, a field that is becoming increasingly important in the hotel industry.”

Meanwhile, Wetime has been chosen to participate in the Web Summit’s Growth Summit, a gathering of innovative companies to be held in Lisbon in November this year.

Commenting on its participation, Wetime co-founder Sietse Schelpe said: “Being chosen for the Growth Summit is not just an honour; it’s a validation of Wetime’s groundbreaking potential.”

Wetime is seeking investors to fund its expansion into new markets. It is planning to capitalise on the platform offered by the Growth Summit to link with potential strategic partners.
