Canary Technologies has announced the acquisition of OpenKey’s assets to broaden its hotel mobile key technology.
This step aims to extend Canary’s existing Mobile Key platform, supporting a wider range of door lock manufacturers and models for hotels worldwide.
Combining OpenKey's solutions and partnerships is expected to expand access to Canary’s AI-driven Guest Management System for global hoteliers.
The expanded offering includes AI Guest Messaging, Mobile Check-In, Dynamic Upsells, and Digital Tipping.
The addition of OpenKey’s solutions is expected to accelerate industry adoption of digital-first guest engagement strategies supported by Canary’s platform.
Canary Technologies co-founder and CEO Harman Singh Narula said: “This acquisition expands our Mobile Key offerings to be the most comprehensive on the market. We're investing in this technology to help hoteliers meet guests' rising expectations for mobile-first guest room access.
“Together, we’re accelerating the transition to frictionless arrivals and a delightful hotel stay with our extensive solution set.”
OpenKey CEO Stephen Bodnar said: “We’ve long admired Canary’s innovation and leadership in the hotel technology industry. We’re excited to come together to enable even more hotels to deliver a seamless, end-to-end digital guest journey experience.”
Canary intends that integrating OpenKey will strengthen its product range as demand grows for contactless and keyless hotel stay experiences.
The company’s AI-powered Guest Management Platform is used by more than 20,000 hotels across over 100 countries. Its solutions digitise guest touchpoints for brands, including Intercontinental Hotel Group, Four Seasons, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, BWH Hotels, and others.
In October 2025, Brøchner Hotels selected Canary Technologies’ Guest Management System to support digital guest services and streamline staff operations at its properties.
