Choice Hotels will take part in Google’s AI Mode in Search as one of the early hotel booking partners in the US.

The new search and booking feature is being introduced in the US and is intended to let travellers look for hotels through a conversational format.

Users can enter requests in English, including destination, travel dates, amenities and other preferences linked to their stay.

The system then presents hotel options in a visual format, showing room images, prices, guest scores, reviews and direct comparisons between properties.

Choice Hotels is also included in a separate AI Mode function that shows the points cost for members using Choice Privileges.

After selecting a property, users can click on “Continue on Google”, pick a room category and use AI Mode to complete a secure booking through Google Pay.

Choice Hotels said the arrangement follows its broader use of technology across the business.

The company said it was the first large hotel group to move all of its systems infrastructure to the cloud, which it said supports the adoption of new tools across the company.

AI is now being used in guest services, franchisee-facing tools and internal workflows.

According to the company, this is aimed at supporting demand, hotel operations and owner returns.

The new booking route is meant to simplify search and booking for guests and help keep franchisee properties visible as AI becomes more central to travel planning.

Choice Hotels chief data, AI and technology officer Anna Scozzafava said: “By working with Google as an early partner for hotel booking through AI Mode in Search, we’re helping make it easier for travellers to find the right Choice hotel for their trip while positioning our franchisees to compete and win in the age of agentic commerce.”
