Club Med, in partnership with Indonesian hospitality developer PT Grahatama Kreasi Baru (GKB), has made a hotel management agreement for a new resort in Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

This addition to the company's portfolio is its third resort in the country, after Club Med Bali, which opened in 1984, and Club Med Bintan which followed in 1997.

The announcement reflects Club Med's strategic expansion in Southeast Asia, offering a variety of holiday experiences.

North Sulawesi, known as the "Land of the Smiling People," will host the new Club Med property, situated on the island's east bay.

The resort is located a 70-minute drive from Sam Ratulangi International Airport and will offer 250 rooms with views of Mount Klabat and the Molucca Sea.

Guests will be treated to dining experiences that fuse international and local Manadonese cuisines, as well as activities including a kids' club and family programmes.

An exclusive collection venue within the resort will offer additional privacy and amenities.

Club Med, with a focus on sustainable development, intends to pursue BREEAM certification for the new development.

The establishment is also anticipated to generate more than 1,000 job opportunities for the Indonesian workforce, contributing to the economic growth of Manado and offering sustained employment prospects.

The launch of Club Med Manado is set for 2028.

Earlier in October 2023, Club Med launched Club Med Urban Oasis Xianlin Nanjing resort in China, which the company describes as the world's inaugural urban oasis resort.
