Indian hospitality group Cygnett Hotels & Resorts has signed its new property in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

The new 100-key Cygnett Retreat TM Collection by Wyndham Ujjain is a greenfield project that is part of the company's strategic expansion across pilgrimage and leisure destinations within the country.

Cygnett Hotels & Resorts founder and managing director Sarbendra Sarkar said: “We are delighted to expand our presence in the heart of India – Madhya Pradesh. Ujjain is an ancient city with immense religious importance for Hindus.

“The state government is spending crores of rupees on a series of infrastructure projects in Ujjain ahead of the Simhastha Mahakumbh 2028. Apart from a key religious site, Ujjain is also emerging as a textile hub. We think it is the right time to enter Ujjain and offer visitors and tourists a taste of our famed ‘Cygnetture’ hospitality.”

Anticipated to start operations by mid-next year, the boutique resort is poised to cater to families, pilgrims and experiential travellers.

The upcoming Cygnett property is situated 12km from the Mahakaleshwar Temple and the city centre.

The property will include a restaurant offering all-day dining, and 15,000ft² of space dedicated to meetings and banquets.

Additionally, guests will have access to a range of amenities such as a swimming pool, a children's play area, a fitness centre, and a spa.

Sarkar added: “Cygnett Retreat TM Collection by Wyndham Ujjain will offer the perfect blend of comfort and convenience.

“With its Santorini-style architecture and tropical forest-themed landscape combined with a serene environment, the property is well positioned to attract different segments of travellers.”

In July, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts formed a collaboration with Cygnett Hotels & Resorts to extend its reach in South Asia.
