Fathom Companies has announced the opening of the Evalina Hotel in Portland's Old Port in Maine, US, in May 2026.

It will be operated by hospitality management group Fathom Companies.

The hotel will occupy a restored five-storey building, offering 15 suites and aims to provide an intimate, residential style stays.

It derives its name from Evalina Fox, one of the earliest owners of the building.

The building comprises five one-bedroom and ten two-bedroom suites across its five floors. Many suites offer private decks overlooking Commercial Street and the waterfront.

The top floor features three duplex suites with mezzanine living areas and distinctive layouts. One fifth-floor suite includes a custom bar sink and entertainment nook designed for gatherings and celebrations.

Scott Lindsay, who has owned the building since 1993, has overseen its transition from a historic property to a hospitality venue.

Lindsay said: “This building, built in 1854, has been a defining part of Portland's Old Port for generations. Over the past three decades, it's been a privilege to preserve its original character while preparing it for this next chapter. The Evalina Hotel continues that story - celebrating its history while inviting new guests to experience Portland's waterfront in a fresh, timeless way.”

The Evalina Hotel joins Fathom Companies’ portfolio of restored Maine properties, which includes The Press Hotel, The Weldon Hotel, The Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront, and The Brunswick Hotel.

Fathom Companies hospitality vice-president Brandon Hussey said: “The Evalina Hotel is a perfect fit for our portfolio, it embodies Portland's spirit of authenticity, creativity, and community connection.

“Each suite tells a story, and every design detail nods to the city's working waterfront. We're thrilled to bring this historic building back to life and introduce guests to a truly local experience in the heart of the Old Port.”
