Global hospitality company Hilton is set to bolster its presence in Africa by signing an agreement with Brighton Hotels and Business to open two new DoubleTree properties in Ethiopia.

This marks the first international hotel presence in the cities of Adama and Dire Dawa.

Hilton Middle East and Africa development vice-president Carlos Khneisser said: “We are thrilled to partner with Brighton Hotels and Business to open two hotels in Ethiopia.

“These new additions in Adama and Dire Dawa will further strengthen our footprint across the country, perfectly complementing the soon-to-open DoubleTree by Hilton Addis Ababa Airport and currently trading Hilton Addis Ababa.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Adama in Addis Ababa will offer 188 guest rooms and suites, as well as views of the Rift Valley mountains.

Guests will have access to a range of dining options, a ballroom, six meeting rooms, a business centre, a spa, a fitness centre, and an outdoor pool with a deck.

Located in one of Ethiopia's key industrial and commercial hubs, DoubleTree by Hilton Dire Dawa will offer 150 guest rooms and suites.

It is situated near new government offices and a short drive from industrial zones and Dire Dawa International Airport.

Brighton Hotels and Business founder Yadeta Bekri said: “We are delighted to be working with Hilton to bring a new international brand to the thriving cities of Adama and Dire Dawa.

“Both properties will offer spacious accommodation, modern amenities and elevated food and drink options for travellers and the local community.”

Guests at both hotels will benefit from the Hilton Honors loyalty programme, which allows over 210 million members to book directly and earn points for Hilton hotel stays and experiences, as well as allow contactless check-in with room selection.

Hilton plans to have eight operating properties in Ethiopia over the next few years.

The DoubleTree by Hilton brand boasts nearly 700 hotels with more than 155,000 rooms in 59 countries.

Last month, Hilton's Hampton brand entered the African market with a new property in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking its 150th property in the EMEA region.

Furthermore, Hilton Garden Inn Windhoek opened in Namibia's capital city last March, introducing the Hilton Garden Inn brand to the African country.
