Hotel Equities has signed a hotel management agreement with Grupo Ginevra-GNV for SLS Punta del Este, a new Accor-branded luxury hotel and residential project in Uruguay.

The property is scheduled to open in early 2029.

In a statement, the company said that SLS Punta del Este marks the hospitality operator’s first project in Uruguay and extends Hotel Equities Caribbean and Latin America (HE CALA) operations into South America.

HE CALA president Juan Corvinos said: “We’re thrilled to partner with the visionaries at GNV Group who were seeking an operator to deliver global standards with local execution and that's what our in-market HE CALA model is built for.

“Working together, we're bringing Accor's global platform and our proven operational discipline, which has driven results across the Caribbean, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, to SLS Punta del Este.”

As agreed, HE CALA will oversee daily hotel operations and financial performance.

The company will also run the property’s Wellness and Longevity Center and a broad food and beverage offering, including multiple dining concepts, rooftop and pool bars, along with event and cocktail spaces.

HE will additionally manage SLS Punta del Este’s rental programme for residence owners who want to generate income from their units when not using them personally.

GNV Group president Alejandro Ginevra said: “SLS Punta del Este is designed to set a new standard for branded residential development in Uruguay, after having developed Madero Harbor District in Buenos Aires we want to bring the same standard to our current and future projects in the Southern Cone.

“Hotel Equities brings the in-market operating experience across the Caribbean and Latin America to turn that vision into a functioning property, from pre-opening through day-to-day operations.”

The addition of SLS Punta del Este is the latest step in HE CALA’s expansion.

The division has built “a fully in-market operating platform” across 11 countries in the 15 months since Juan Corvinos’ appointment, the company said.

The platform now covers 16 hotels and resorts with more than 2,000 rooms, including open and operating properties, as well as those in the pipeline, plus 23 food and beverage outlets.

HE CALA is also preparing to assume management of properties in Belize, Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Curacao and other destinations in the region.
