Japan’s Hotel Okura has set a 2028 opening for the Hotel Okura Thermal Resort & Spa in the Cappadocia region in Türkiye.

The property will be located in the village of Mustafapaşa.

It marks a continuation of the Okura Spa & Resort Cappadocia project first announced in June 2015.

It is being advanced with KK Universal, a Türkiye-based real estate and hospitality investment group that has become Hotel Okura’s new partner.

The development site has been enlarged under the revised plans.

The project is set to include “premier” thermal and wellness facilities, combining Okura’s omotenashi, or Japanese-style hospitality, with elements of Cappadocia’s cultural background.

In May 2026, Hotel Okura entered a hotel management agreement with Oluşum Grubu Gayrimenkul Yatırımları ve İnşaat Ticaret, a hotel operating company supported by KK Universal.

Operations at the property are to be handled by Okura Saraylı Hotel Management, a joint venture formed in February 2015 by Hotel Okura Co together with local partners Saraylı Turizm and MSIC Gayrimenkul Yatırım ve Danışmanlık Ticaret.

Hotel Okura and KK Universal are also continuing talks on other possible projects in Türkiye as they extend their partnership in the country.

Hotel Okura said its future expansion in Türkiye will take place only through this partnership.

The resort is planned to include a 3,500m² spa and wellness centre, as well as three food and beverage venues.

The site covers nearly 9,177m² and the total floor area is 23,500m².

The property will have 102 rooms. Planned facilities include thermal baths, hammam steam baths, indoor and outdoor pools, and other amenities.

Hotel Okura president Toshihiro Ogita said: “We are honoured to embark on this project together with KK Universal and are delighted to bring the Okura brand to Türkiye. This project represents an important opportunity to introduce the Okura philosophy to guests in one of Türkiye's most remarkable destinations.

“Our commitment to offering world-class hospitality, blending the elegance of Japanese culture with local charm, is unwavering.”
