Hotel Viking in Newport, US, has reopened after a comprehensive renovation coinciding with the establishment’s centenary.

The 210-room hotel now features redesigned public areas, guest rooms, and dining spaces.

Originally established in 1926 by Newport’s founding families, the property has served as a gathering place within the city.

The refurbishment was overseen by design company Beleco. The guest rooms now display a combination of traditional materials in a neutral palette while public areas, including the hotel bar, feature a drawing room design with panelled walls and a fireplace.

Hotel Viking has partnered with local organisations such as the Newport Art Museum and The Steel Yard to support cultural initiatives.

Function and event facilities at the hotel now total over 13,000ft², encompassing the two ballrooms, conference rooms, and open-air venues.

Kay Chapel, a restored 19th-century chapel seating up to 200, remains a central space for weddings and community events.

The hotel additionally houses Spa Fjör, which provides wellness treatments, an indoor pool, and a fitness centre.

Real estate private equity company KHP Capital Partners led the renovation of Hotel Viking.

KHP Capital Partners CEO and managing partner Ben Rowe said: “Hotel Viking has always been part of Newport's story. As we approached its centennial, we wanted to return to its original spirit, honouring the role it has long played in the city while thoughtfully evolving it for a new generation.

“It's about creating a place that feels enduring and familiar, yet alive in a way that reflects how people gather, connect, and experience Newport today.”
