Hyatt Hotels has expanded its portfolio with the opening of Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa on the north-east coast of the Dominican Republic.

The new resort is a fresh addition to the hospitality giant’s Dreams Resorts & Spas brand.

The property features 500 rooms and suites, some of which offer garden, pool, or ocean views, with certain suites providing direct swim-out access.

For those seeking an elevated experience, the resort offers a Preferred Club with upgraded suite locations, exclusive amenities, and access to a private lounge and pool.

Dining options include ten restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, from South American to Dominican dishes.

The resort shares facilities with the neighbouring adults-only Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa, allowing guests to enjoy dining, shopping, and entertainment in a central area. Adults staying at either property have access to both resorts' amenities.

Children's activities are a key focus, with the Explorer’s Club for kids aged 3-12 and the Core Zone Teens Club for those aged 13-17 offering age-appropriate entertainment.

Recreational facilities include three pools, a waterpark, a fitness centre, and a spa with a range of treatments.

The resort is positioned near several natural attractions, including Montaña Redonda and Los Haitises National Park.

The resort provides more than 15,000ft² of space, including seaside venues and a ballroom, for events such as weddings and other gatherings.

The adjacent Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa offers additional facilities for adults-only events.

Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa general manager Ángel Medina said: “Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa invites families and multigenerational travellers to relax, reconnect, and discover the beauty of the Dominican Republic.

“Blending warm Dominican hospitality with the all-inclusive ease that defines the Dreams Resorts & Spas brand, we’ve created a place where every detail inspires connection.”

As of 30 June 2025, Hyatt Hotels operated over 1,450 hotels and all-inclusive resorts spanning 80 countries across six continents.
