Hyatt Hotels is set to expand in Italy with three planned openings, which will add 428 rooms and suites in the country.

The pipeline includes Hyatt Regency Rome Central, Thompson Rome and Park Hyatt Taormina.

Near Rome’s Termini train station, Hyatt Regency Rome Central is expected to open at the end of the third quarter of this year.

Targeting business, meetings and events demand, the 238-room full-service hotel will include a rooftop pool, bar and an Asian-inspired restaurant.

Also expected to open this year, Thompson Rome would introduce Hyatt’s lifestyle Thompson brand to Italy.

The 69-room hotel will occupy a repurposed heritage building near the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Piazza Venezia.

Park Hyatt Taormina is planned to open in Sicily in 2028. The 121-suite property is expected to offer private terraces, views of the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, locally inspired dining and a spa.

Hyatt Europe, Africa, and the Middle East (EAME) development vice-president Nuno Galvao Pinto said: “Italy is an important growth market for Hyatt because it combines strong travel demand with a large base of independent hotels.

“For owners considering a brand affiliation or conversion, Hyatt offers global distribution, booking channels and access to more than 66 million World of Hyatt members - creating powerful network effects as our presence in Italy continues to grow.”

Hyatt currently has 170 hotels across 19 brands in Europe, including six hotels under five brands in Milan, Venice, Rome, Florence and Sardinia.

The group says it has quadrupled its room count in Italy since 2019, with more than 40 further hotels due to open in Europe in the coming years.

In March, Hyatt Hotels opened Hyatt Regency Incheon Paradise City, marking the reintroduction of the Hyatt Regency brand to South Korea.
