Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has signed an agreement for a new Ginger hotel in Diu, marking its expansion in the Indian Union territory of Daman and Diu.

The 45-key property will be situated along the Jallandhar beach coastline, providing guests with panoramic views and access to a range of facilities including a gym, conference hall, and swimming pool.

IHCL real estate and development executive vice president Suma Venkatesh said: “Entering the Diu hospitality market offers an opportunity to introduce the Ginger experience in a location that has remained largely untapped.

“With its scenic beaches and vibrant history, the UT has immense potential as a destination. We are delighted to partner with Praveg Limited on this project.”

The collaboration with Praveg, a hospitality and event management company, is anticipated to bring IHCL's “expertise” in hospitality to the region.

Praveg chairman Vishnukumar Patel said: “This collaboration with IHCL brings their world-class hospitality expertise to Praveg’s already established property in Diu. We believe this partnership will bring substantial value for both Praveg and IHCL.”  

Situated off the Kathiawad coast in Gujarat, Diu is renowned for its beaches and historic fort.

The new Ginger Hotel will be spread over three acres.

With its portfolio of brands including Taj, SeleQtions, Tree of Life, Vivanta, Gateway, and Ginger, IHCL operates 350 hotels globally, with 118 under development.

Earlier this month, IHCL expanded its Ginger brand with the signing of a partnership with Lekhraj Builders for its 100th hotel, in Lucknow.

The hotel will feature amenities such as Qmin, a fitness centre, and meeting facilities.

Last month, IHCL announced the signing of a new resort in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, under the Gateway brand, in partnership with Ecavo Hospitality.
