IHCL signs Taj resort expansion in Chail, Himachal Pradesh

The resort's design will reflect colonial elegance with lattice work, stained glass, and cobbled stone pathways.

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj resort in Chail, Himachal Pradesh, marking an expansion of its luxury hospitality offerings in the region.

The project will transform and enlarge the resort to a 100-key property.

IHCL managing director and chief executive officer Puneet Chhatwal said: “Himachal Pradesh is home to many off-beat and idyllic destinations like Chail and IHCL with 11 hotels across brands in the state is committed to unlocking its tourism potential.

“This signing is in line with our strategy of pioneering and nurturing emerging destinations, offering travellers distinctive experiences rooted in local culture. We are delighted to partner with Mr Girish Batra and Mr Vansh Batra to bring the iconic Taj brand to the region.”

The resort's design will feature detailed lattice work, vibrant stained glass, and traditional cobbled stone pathways, creating an enchanting retreat for guests.

It will offer various amenities, including an all-day dining restaurant, speciality restaurant, and bar for guests. The resort will also offer a heated swimming pool, a fitness centre, an activity hub, and a J Wellness Circle spa.

Additionally, Taj Chail is set to boast the largest banqueting venue in Chail, positioning it as a prime destination for social gatherings and celebratory events.

With the introduction of this hotel, IHCL's portfolio in Himachal Pradesh will include 11 properties, with six currently under development.

The brand has a portfolio of 360 hotels, including 123 under development worldwide across four continents, 13 countries and in more than 150 locations.
