IHG Hotels & Resorts has selected eTip, a digital tipping and financial benefits platform, as its digital tipping provider.

This partnership is expected to provide more than 6,000 IHG franchises, managed properties, restaurants and bars access to eTip's contactless tipping solution.

It will enable hotel employees to potentially increase their tipped wages and offer guests the convenience of cashless tipping.

eTip's advanced payment and banking system is designed to handle all payment scenarios for tipped workers at IHG locations.

The system is claimed to be user-friendly, secure, and compliant, enabling guests to express gratitude through a variety of payment methods.

eTip co-founder and CEO Nicolas Cassis said: “IHG truly embodies the concept of a hotel group that understands how great technology powers exceptional experiences. We’re proud to have been chosen as a key part of that strategy and look forward to using the power of gratitude to deliver unprecedented levels of employee and guest satisfaction.

“With eTip’s technology and our ability to drive greater financial stability for their hardworking and valued staff, we’re helping them do just that.”

The implementation of eTip's technology is claimed to result in an average increase in income of $2 per hour for service staff and a fivefold increase in tipping frequency.

eTip's platform does not require a mobile app download or login credentials.

It provides guests with the option to scan a QR code or use ‘tap to tip’ through an NFC-enabled QR code to leave a tip.

It also allows associates to receive the tip instantly in their bank account on demand via Visa Direct, bypassing the wait for weekly or bi-weekly payroll processing.

It further integrates with point-of-sale systems in restaurants and bars.

eTip offers compliant, enterprise-grade reporting, which provides businesses insights into tipping trends, staff performance, and guest satisfaction.

Last month, eTip announced an exclusive partnership with Shamin Hotels.

The collaboration allows guests at Shamin Hotels’ 76 properties to tip more than 3,000 associates.
