Meliá Hotels International has launched its ME brand in Andalusia, Spain, with the opening of a new property in Marbella following a €20m ($23.58m) renovation.

Situated between Puerto Banús and Old Town, the ME Marbella hotel introduces a contemporary luxury concept to Spain’s Costa del Sol.

Designed by architects Adriana and Álvaro Sans from ASAH Studio, the property features 200 rooms, including 24 suites, all offering views of either the Mediterranean Sea, Sierra Blanca mountains, or internal gardens.

Rooms are equipped with premium amenities to provide guests with a tranquil and luxurious environment, said the company.

ME Marbella aims to be a social and cultural hub, hosting music sessions, wellness activities, art exhibits, and dining experiences, which are developed in collaboration with Pont Hospitality.

Meliá Hotels International CEO Gabriel Escarrer said: “With the opening of ME Marbella, we celebrate the arrival of our most avant-garde brand in one of the Mediterranean's most iconic destinations.

ME Marbella also provides guests with personalised experiences through its ME+ programme.

Activities range from studio visits to beauty treatments, private tapas tours, electric boat excursions for underwater exploration, and exclusive wine tastings at Spain's first underwater winery.

The launch follows an announcement in May, when Meliá Hotels International disclosed the addition of a new property in Sardinia.
