The Westin Tampa Waterside hotel in Tampa, Florida, US, has been acquired by Rockpoint and Newbond Holdings.
The acquisition of the property, which spans 1.5 acres and includes 309 guest rooms, has been announced without disclosing the financial terms.
The hotel is located within walking distance of the Tampa Convention Centre, Water Street District, and the University of Tampa.
The Westin Tampa Waterside provides a range of amenities, including a fitness studio, heated outdoor pool, and multiple dining options. It also offers ample spaces for meetings and social events.
Rockpoint managing member and COO Dan Domb said: “We believe the Tampa market continues to exhibit strong economic indicators overall, and has diverse demand drivers driven by tourism, conventions, local employers, colleges, and nearby sports venues.
"With limited new competitive supply in the market, and the long-standing reputation of Marriott's Westin brand, we are excited to lead this next chapter of ownership of the Westin Tampa Waterside.”
The new owners also plan for extensive renovations that will refresh guest rooms and update the hotel's lobby and meeting facilities.
Newbond Holdings founding partner Neil Luthra said: “Since our prior initial acquisition of the property, we've experienced exceptional demand in the downtown Tampa hotel market. We are excited to implement our new business plan and build on the property's success with the Rockpoint team, whom we have known for a long time.”
For more than 40 years, the Westin Tampa Waterside hotel has served as a prime destination for travellers to the city.
Its convenient location provides easy access to Port Tampa Bay, Tampa International Airport, and Raymond James Stadium.
This strategic acquisition is expected to enhance the property's appeal to both leisure and business visitors.
