Nordic hotel operator Scandic is expanding its Norwegian presence with the addition of a new franchise hotel to its portfolio.
The company launched a franchise hotel in Florø, Norway, following the rebranding of the former Comfort Hotel Victoria as Scandic Victoria Florø.
The hotel features 97 rooms and facilities capable of accommodating meetings for up to 150 people.
The development also supports the company’s strategy to increase its share of the Nordic hotel market.
The Helle family, which previously owned the Comfort Hotel Victoria, will manage the property under a franchise agreement with Scandic.
Scandic Victoria Florø owners Mads, Ole and Leif Arne Helle said: “We look forward to starting our collaboration with Scandic and the journey ahead.
"With the investments and upgrades that have been carried out, we are confident that Scandic is the right choice to elevate the hotel to new heights – and that Scandic Victoria Florø will have a strong, attractive hotel offering for locals and leisure travellers alike.”
The move aligns with Scandic’s broader growth objectives announced in February 2025, which aim to add approximately 10,000 rooms across the group by 2030.
Out of these, half of the rooms will be introduced under the Scandic Go brand, targeting customers in the economy segment.
The plan also includes launching between 30 to 40 new franchise hotels to broaden Scandic’s presence throughout the Nordic region.
In June, the company launched its sixth signature hotel, The Dock 69°39 by Scandic, which added 305 rooms to Tromsø under its brand.
Besides these openings in Norway, the company has finalised agreements for an additional five hotels within its portfolio, totalling more than 1,400 rooms.
Scandic Hotels Group chief operations officer Asle Prestegard said: “Adding more franchise hotels to our portfolio will give our guests even more choices and destinations to experience Scandic, and these hotels are an important part of our ambitious growth strategy for 2030.
“We are committed to continuously strengthening our well-invested portfolio with new hotels that create value for both guests and owners, and Scandic Victoria Florø is a stellar example of how we make this possible.”
