Scandic Hotels is set to expand its economy segment offering with the launch of its first Scandic Go hotel in Norway.

Scandic Go is a component of the company's strategic long-term growth plan.

The existing Scandic Grensen hotel in Oslo will be converted into the new Scandic Go, which is anticipated to open in the first half of 2026.

Scandic Hotels Group president and CEO Jens Mathiesen said: “Norway is one of Scandic’s most important markets, with high demand and excellent growth opportunities.

“Establishing a Scandic Go in downtown Oslo is an important milestone for Scandic and our growth strategy. The new hotel underscores our commitment to the country and opens the door to more guests who want to discover the city.”

This conversion of Scandic Grensen into a Scandic Go hotel is driven by its suitable infrastructure, design, and location.

The hotel is in proximity to the city's cultural landmarks, including Karl Johans gate, the Norwegian Parliament, and Oslo Cathedral.

Scandic Norway chief operating officer Asle Prestegard said: “I’m delighted to introduce our first Scandic Go in the Norwegian market. With its central location and modern profile, it will satisfy the needs of a new generation of guests and be a welcome addition to the  Norwegian hotel industry.

“We look forward to launching Scandic Go in Norway and at the same time expanding Scandic’s hotel offering for our guests.”

Once launched, the new property is set to be certified by the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, a distinction that is claimed to be held by the majority of Scandic's properties.

This latest announcement follows Scandic's recent news of expanding its Norwegian presence with a new franchise hotel, Scandic Victoria Florø, set to open on 1 December.
