Indianapolis’ first Signia by Hilton hotel has reached the topping off construction milestone just over a year after the concrete pour took place at the property’s foundation.

The property is set to become the first Signia by Hilton hotel in Indiana and the Midwest.

The 38-storey building will feature 800 rooms and include a Sky Lounge and Mezzanine on its upper floors.

The event also confirmed that construction is 62% finished and remains on track for the planned autumn 2026 opening.

Once operational, it will offer nearly 100,000ft² of flexible meeting space, including a 50,000ft² ballroom.

The hotel will feature seven dining options, a rooftop bar and pool, a modern fitness centre, and Club Signia.

To date, approximately 50 guest rooms are finished with full interiors, and more than 2,300 construction jobs have been created.

Signia by Hilton Indianapolis general manager Kathy Heneghan said: “Signia by Hilton Indianapolis will be more than a hotel, it will be a transformative destination that reimagines hospitality in the Midwest. From its skyline-defining architecture to its world-class amenities and event spaces, this property reflects the vision driving Indianapolis forward.”

The hotel will provide direct access to both the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium via skywalk.

This will increase the number of hotels directly connected to the convention centre to 12, covering over 5,200 rooms.

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett said: “If Indianapolis wants to keep rising as a city and as a prime destination for people from all over the world, it is vital that we invest in projects like the Signia by Hilton and expand the Indiana Convention Center. The way this building is transforming our skyline is truly a sign of all the success that is to come.”

The development forms part of the sixth expansion phase for the Indiana Convention Center since its opening.

Once open, the Signia by Hilton Indianapolis’s ballroom will rank among the ten largest in the nation, enabling Indianapolis to host two citywide conventions at once.

Capital Improvement Board executive director Andy Mallon said: “This hotel will change the skyline and, because we will be able to host more events, bigger events, and more culturally significant events, it will also change downtown Indy’s economy, both for the better.”

Key project partners include AECOM Hunt as construction manager, Ratio Design for architectural services, Central Indiana Building and Construction Trades, and FA Wilhelm Construction overseeing concrete work.
