SONIFI partners with Ooma for cloud-based hotel communications

This move introduces advanced solutions that will expand SONIFI’s offerings while enhancing guest experience.

Hospitality technology provider SONIFI has partnered with advanced communications services provider Ooma for cloud-based voice communications.

This collaboration also introduces phone systems that enhance hotel operations and guest experience, as well as SONIFI's entry into the voice communication market.

SONIFI strategic accounts and internet services senior vice-president Paul Johnson said: “We picked Ooma as our telecommunications partner because of the wide range of solutions they offer and because they have more than two decades of experience in delivering high-quality services.

“Our customers rely on SONIFI’s expertise to deliver the best guest technology experiences. We’re proud to recommend Ooma to our customers for their telephony needs.”

Ooma's new offerings include unified communications, a cloud-based service with phone, videoconferencing, chat, and more tailored for front desk and back-office workers.

Additionally, the partnership will provide SIP trunking to replace legacy on-premise PBX systems with voice over internet (VoIP) lines, simplifying infrastructure while maintaining existing room phones.

The collaboration also addresses the need for plain old telephone service (POTS) replacement by offering a solution to substitute outdated copper-wire phone lines with secure connections for critical life-safety devices.

Furthermore, the partnership ensures hotel connectivity during broadband outages with wireless internet backup and integrates with property management systems (PMS) to manage hotel services efficiently.

Ooma strategic sales director Rajesh Shah said: “We’re delighted to be chosen by SONIFI because we know how much hotel operators trust them to provide solutions that are both powerful and cost-effective.

“We look forward to helping SONIFI customers migrate away from aging on-premise systems, as well as maximise efficiency in new facilities.”

This strategic move follows SONIFI's collaboration in April 2024 with The Global Ambassador, a luxury hotel in Arizona, US.

The partnership aimed to enhance in-room entertainment and guest experience by providing fast, secure, and Wi-Fi connectivity, alongside a TV experience through SONIFI's SORA platform.
