Premium economy hotel brand Spark by Hilton is all set to debut in France with the opening of three properties in the city of Lyon.

The brand introduction is the result of the signing of franchise agreements between hospitality company Hilton and Arteloge. The agreements also include the addition of a second DoubleTree by Hilton property in Lyon.

The new hotels will collectively offer 655 rooms and are scheduled to open between late 2025 and 2028.

Hilton EMEA development senior vice-president Patrick Fitzgibbon said: “France remains a key strategic growth market for us, with plans to increase our portfolio by more than 50%. We’re excited to be further expanding our presence in Lyon, a major city known for its rich culture, commerce and excellent connectivity.”

The Spark by Hilton Lyon Ouest and Spark by Hilton Lyon Park Saône, both situated near Lyon's business district and the Saône River, are expected to open their doors in late 2025. The hotels will each feature 102 and 100 rooms, respectively.

The third property, Spark by Hilton Lyon Eurexpo, will be strategically located near the Eurexpo exhibition centre, airports, and motorways, making it a suitable choice for business and leisure guests alike. The hotel is set to welcome guests in mid-2026.

All three Spark by Hilton hotels are designed to cater to the needs of modern travellers with practical amenities and signature offerings such as a Hydration Cart and a 24-hour retail market.

In addition, the new DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage is scheduled to open in 2028 after refurbishment. It will offer 118 guest rooms and 56 extended-stay accommodations.

DoubleTree by Hilton Lyon Plage will feature a restaurant, a bar, and 12 conference rooms, all situated along the Saône River and next to a spa facility offering an array of wellness services.

Guests will be greeted with the brand's chocolate chip cookie upon arrival.

Arteloge CEO Eric Giorgi said: “We’re delighted to be working with Hilton to bring four new properties to Lyon. This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to innovation and quality. We’re proud to play a role in introducing Spark by Hilton to France and expanding the presence of DoubleTree by Hilton in the region. We look forward to welcoming guests to these exceptional properties in the coming years.”
