Swiss-Belhotel International has entered a management agreement with Bawareq Nizwa International For Investment SAOC to operate a new property in Nizwa, Oman.

The hotel will offer 81 rooms and suites, as well as facilities such as a restaurant, meeting rooms, swimming pool, fitness amenities, and a coffee shop. Commercial leasing spaces are also planned as part of the development.

Swiss-Belhotel Nizwa hotel is set to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026.

Bawareq Nizwa International for Investment chairman Salim Abdullah Ahmed Al Abadi said: “We are delighted to collaborate with Swiss-Belhotel International to bring a globally recognised brand to Nizwa.

“Our vision is to contribute to the continued growth of the Sultanate’s hospitality and tourism sector while creating a new landmark that reflects the charm, culture, and heritage of the region. We believe Swiss-Belhotel Nizwa will elevate the city’s accommodation offerings and attract both domestic and international visitors.”

The agreement forms part of Swiss-Belhotel International’s efforts to further increase its presence in the country.

According to the company, the decision to establish the hotel in Nizwa aligns with trends in Oman's tourism industry.

Swiss-Belhotel International chairman and president Gavin Faull said: “Oman is one of the most promising destinations in the Middle East, offering rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. We are glad to partner with Bawareq Nizwa International For Investment SAOC with the management of Swiss-Belhotel Nizwa, further strengthening our presence in the Sultanate.”

The government data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information shows that international visitor arrivals exceeded 3.8 million in 2024.

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has projected that inbound tourist numbers could reach up to 11.7 million a year by 2040. The country is prioritising tourism as a key pillar in its Vision 2040 plan to diversify the economy.

Significant investments in hospitality infrastructure are underway as Oman seeks to meet its long-term tourism targets.

Swiss-Belhotel states that Nizwa is among several destinations identified for further development due to its cultural and historical significance.

Swiss-Belhotel International Group human resources and talent development senior vice president Laurent Voivenel said: “With its strategic location and high-quality design, Swiss-Belhotel Nizwa will be positioned as a contemporary hotel with a distinctive local character.

“Our focus will be to combine international standards with authentic Omani hospitality, supporting the country’s long-term tourism vision in line with Oman Vision 2040.”
